Initiation to Hiking and Equipment
Transportation is included to the site for a 5-6 km hike from Red Brook to Pabineau Falls, a section of the Nepisiguit Mi'gmaq Trail, an ancient migration route used for hundreds of years by the First Nation people, along the Nepisiguit River. You are responsible for appropriate shoes and clothing, but we can supply other hiking equipment such as hiking poles.
During many stops, we will discuss the basics of hiking and proper equipment, and expand to such knowledge as packing up for a longer trip, building your survival kit and being prepared to spend an unexpected night out in wilderness. You can also test your skills on some important techniques for those wishing to take hiking to another level.
A healthy lunch will be served at the famous Pabineau falls on the side that’s inaccessible by car, where you can catch a great set of pictures. Bring home knowledge and confidence to enjoy many other outings in the wilderness.
